Water Resources Group is the enterprise organization behind Rice Lake and Rice Lake West. Our role is to strengthen both companies through shared leadership, financial resources, safety programs, technology, professional development, business systems, equipment, and specialized support.
While each company maintains its own client relationships and market expertise, both are backed by the strength and stability of a larger organization. Together, Water Resources Group employs more than 400 professionals, maintains an industry-leading EMR of 0.50, and provides bonding capacity of up to $1 billion.
For project owners and public partners, this means working with a contractor that offers the responsiveness and accountability of a dedicated operating company, supported by the resources, financial strength, and expertise of a well-established enterprise.
Our History
The company traces its roots to 1984, when John and JR Spalj founded Rice Lake Construction Group. In 2018, WRG was formed to bring Rice Lake under shared ownership with Stanek Constructors, which was based in Golden, Colorado and now operates as Rice Lake West.
